Does Laneige really support Animal Rights?

Laneige is owned by AmorePacific

While Laneige makes claims in their animal testing policies to be cruelty-free and to not performing anytesting on animals, the company is actively selling its products in mainland China where animal testing is required by law. Because of their operations in China, Laneige cannot be considered a cruelty-free brand. Moreover, Laneige's parent company AmorePacific is also not cruelty-free. In 2022, Amore Pacific, the parent company of Laneige, announced that it would stop the sale of animal-derived ingredients in all of its products. This decision was made in response to increasing consumer demand for cruelty-free beauty products. Amore Pacific is also committed to removing all animal testing from its supply chain and has implemented a strict policy to ensure that all ingredients used are ethically sourced and produced. Additionally, the company has invested in research and development to create alternative ingredients that do not rely on animal-derived sources. This commitment to animal rights has been praised by animal rights organizations around the world. In addition to Amore Pacific's commitment to animal rights, Laneige has also implemented a ban on the sale of fur products in all of its stores in China. This decision was made in response to the Chinese government's ban on the sale of fur products, which was put in place in 2021 as part of its animal rights initiative. Laneige has pledged to only use faux fur in all of its products, and has committed to using certified sustainable fur-free materials in the future. Finally, Laneige is also committed to adhering to the local regulations on animal testing for cosmetics in all markets where its products are sold. In some markets, such as the European Union, animal testing for cosmetic products is banned. In others, such as China, animal testing is still required for certain categories of cosmetics. Laneige has pledged to only use ingredients that have been certified as not requiring animal testing, and to continue to work with regulators in order to eliminate animal testing for its products wherever possible.
