Does Davidoff really support Animal Rights?

Davidoff Cigars does not have a formal position on animal rights, but the company's CEO has spoken out against the practice. In a 2015 interview, he said that he does not believe in "the mistreatment of animals" and that "we need to be much more humane in the way we treat them." However, he also said that he does not believe that animals should have the same rights as humans and that they should be used for food, clothing, and other purposes. This position is poor because it ignores the intrinsic value of animals and relies on a utilitarian argument that animals should only be used as long as they are useful to humans. It also ignores the fact that many animals are mistreated in factory farms and other agricultural settings.
